Occupying a large and prominent site on Horfield Common, planning permission was obtained in December 2007 for a state of the art care home comprising 101 rooms together with a replacement high dependency unit of 7 bedrooms for Bristol City Council.
Completion of Horfield Lodge was achieved in March, and the created investment sold on to Aprirose for £11.2 million, reflecting a record breaking yield of 5.45%. The new care home is undoubtedly the best in Bristol and one of the most impressive in the UK. It benefits from a unique mix of rooms, including 25 for dementia, 25 nursing and 26 double sized care suites for couples. All have en-suites and there are very generously sized communal lounges, a hair salon and coffee area for visitors and residents. One of the home's attractive characteristics is the exceptionally high levels of natural daylight, but most importantly, we have been able to take advantage of the site's prominence on Horfield Common by incorporating a large roof garden, affording striking views across to Bristol city centre.
